Marcin Pawel Jarzebski is a sustainability scientist specializing in socio-ecological systems, environmental governance, and demographic transitions. He is currently a Project Associate Professor at the Sustainable Society Design Center, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, and an Affiliated Member at Tokyo College, both at the University of Tokyo. He also serves as Science Officer at Future Earth Japan Hub.
His research focuses on the interactions between human and natural systems under conditions of environmental and societal change. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in Japan, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe, examining issues such as community forestry, climate adaptation, food security, and nature-based solutions.
He received his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2015, where he developed a tri-capital framework for assessing resilience in community forestry systems.
